Autumn has come

It seems like autumn has come. It’s cold, rainy and generally miserable.

Power Cut

We had a power cut yesterday. I was talking to my dad over the internet when all the lights went out and he went silent. The router had died of course. Everything was dark outside on the street, except the pub at the end of the street and the streetlights and houses far up the road.

Maybe twenty minutes later a supernova exploded in my face. I was lying on my back in the dark, talking on the mobile. My eyes had adjusted to pitch darkness, and I was looking straight at the ceiling light without realizing, when the power came back.

Calmness in Our Lives

I am passing this on to you because it definitely works, and we could all use a little more calmness in our lives. By following simple advice heard on the Dr. Phil show, you too can find inner peace. Dr Phil proclaimed, “The way to achieve inner peace is to finish all the things you have started and have never finished.”

So, I looked around my house to see all the things I started and hadn’t finished, and before leaving the house this morning, I finished off a bottle of Merlot, a bottle of Zinfandel, a bottle of Bailey’s Irish Cream, a bottle of Vodka, a packet of cookies, the remainder of my old Prozac prescription, the rest of the cheesecake, some Doritos and a box of chocolates.

You have no idea how freaking good I feel. Please pass this on to those whom you think might be in need of inner peace.

Visited Stockholm

Filed under: photos, vacation — nhoglund @ 18:32

I visited Stockholm over the easter. It was a nice, busy, social week. I met up with many old friends and family.

The weather was funny, sometimes it was sunny and +15°C. Sometimes it was snowing, especially at night. Used to milder southern English weather, I only brought a thin jacket.

Back in Brighton it’s hot and sunny weather. People are starting to crowd the beach, and it’s pleasant to wear shorts and sandals (some days).

My sister had just moved into a new flat, my brother into a student hive with a million identical rooms in a 12-story building connected through a shopping mall to an identical 12-story building.

My mom took a picture of me looking like an alien.

How cynical are you?

You Are 32% Cynical

Generally you give people the benefit of the doubt. But there are exceptions.
You buy into many of the things that mainstream society believes, but you’re not anybody’s fool.
